You may have invested in new windows recently. You might be thinking about having new windows fitted to your home. Perhaps you have or are thinking about adding a conservatory on your Wirral home? Maybe you are adding bifold doors to open your house to your garden. Whatever you have, you have made or are about to make an investment in your home, so take care of the money you have spent and take a little time to keep your double glazing and conservatory in great condition for years to come.
Modern window frames are almost maintenance free, but a little care will keep your double glazing and conservatory in great condition and will look good as new for years to come. uPVC frames and doors come in a variety of different colours and a little care and maintenance will keep them looking as good as new:
- Cleaning Glass – regular window cleaning products, available from shops and supermarkets, are perfectly ok for cleaning the glass with a soft cloth in double glazed units. Take care not to scratch the glass by using abrasive cleaning tools or by wearing jewellery. Soap and water is often a good way to clean the exterior glass, which may be a little dirtier.
- Cleaning uPVC Window Frames – care must be taken to use the right cleaner. AVOID abrasive or solvent based cleaners. Simply use soap and water to remove everyday grime and dirt. For more stubborn marks, use a household cleaner as normal, but ensure that it is not abrasive and don’t use abrasive tools such as scourers etc.
- Cleaning uPVC Doors and Frames – These should be cleaned and maintained as per window frames. Use soap and water, followed by a nonabrasive cleaner and soft cloth. Your door and frame will look good for years.
- Cleaning Conservatory Roofs – Firstly, clear all gutters and drains of debris and grime. Use soap and water to wash the windows and frames. If needed, follow this by using nonabrasive cleaners and a soft cloth. Your conservatory will look good as new if this is done as part of regular maintenance. CARE – DO NOT walk or climb on conservatory or porch roofs.
